Times Square finally has its own observatory! At a total cost of $500 million, One Times Square, previously used only as a large advertising screen, was converted into a new visitor center.

The highlight is definitely the observation deck, which offers a 360° view of the bustle below. The official opening of the observatory is scheduled for early 2026. With limited tickets, the soft opening has already occurred in December 2025.

What is One Time Square Observatory?

One Times Square Observation Deck is part of the newly planned One Times Square expansion and development. Considering that this building has been closed to the public for decades, this is great news for us as New York lovers!

Along with other iconic observation decks in New York such as Top of the Rock, Edge Hudson Yards, One Vanderbilt, and the Empire State Building, One Times Square Viewing Deck is the first of its kind to bring visitors directly above the action in Times Square.

Although not as high as the Empire State Building’s deck (which offers incredible views from the 103rd and 86th floor observation decks), One Times Square offers the sort of view from this 26-story building that still gives you a glimpse into the action and life of Times Square below.

This is what the Times Square Observatory looks like.

What can I do at One Times Square Observation Deck?

This major redevelopment includes the opening of an observatory and museum experience. The observation deck allows visitors to New York to enjoy a thrilling view of Times Square as well as an up-close view of the New Year’s Eve Ball at any time of the year.

For New York City history buffs and fans, this museum will be a must-visit to learn about the history of the building (it was originally built as a New York Times site in 1904!), how the annual New Year’s Eve celebration comes together, and how the site plays into Times Square’s epic history.

Experience the history of Times Square interactively with Times Travel. One Times Square not only offers stunning views, but also an interesting experience to learn more about this thrilling place.
