SMEs are the latest goals for cyber security attacks, and last year, one out of three people were violated. SMEs are more actively participating in detecting and stopping these threats, and today, a new company called Cynomi announced $ 37 million in funds to meet the demand.

Insight Partners and Entrée Capital are also leading the round by participating in the former sponsor Canaan, Flint Capital and S16VC. Cynomi previously raised about $ 23 million (including this seed round in 2022). We understand in a source of nearly $ 140 million after trading.

Headquartered in London and Tel Aviv, Cynomi was previously founded by David Primor CEO, a former CTO and R & D manager of Israeli defense forces. And COO Roy Azoulay was founder (his last company was one of the big innovators of Deepfake Detection) and the other founders’ abandonment (Oxford University, and earned a big profit when the early portcoin Onfido made a big profit for a big return.) Their combined cyber and market timing experience are in an interesting way in this latest venture.

Cynomi tends to perform complex and large amounts of work by performing AI -based agents and complex tasks at the base level, but is pushing for the boundaries of what AI can expect.

CEO Primor describes Cynomi’s product as “Virtual Ciso”, not copilot. It is an automated AI -based decision -making producer who understands how small organizations understand how to run security.

There are various behaviors and tools that virtual CISOs can do around this. We can evaluate the network, plan a series of security policies for the company, and provide treatment plans (not yet providing treatment itself), and do not have a specific plan.

All of this is not sold directly to SMB, but SMB is generally sold through a third party, such as a service provider used for network connection and other management services.

The gap between the market with Cynomi is very large.

The malicious hackers of the past focused on more valuable goals of large companies. But nowadays, I started to focus on the long tail of the market using AI and other automated technologies. SMEs (essential) are small but many, but they account for about 90%of all businesses worldwide, so they can be used together, making it a very advantageous choice.

However, SMEs themselves face some special challenges on budget and manpower, and are where products such as Cynomi come in.

Azoulay, COO, said, “Virtual CISO services can start from $ 10,000 to $ 12,000 per year.” Human ciso is at least 10-15 times. It is to be a sophisticated buyer for finding knowledge and finding that CISO. It also has CISO (online) for 52 weeks a week. ”

And so far, the formula has worked. Cynomi’s business has seen Arr Triple last year, and Primor reserved Cynomi’s services to tens of thousands of SMB customers through more than 100 service providers and consulting, including large carriers such as Deutsche Telekom. About 80%of customers are in the United States, which is an intentional initial focus that will now expand to Europe and other markets.

This fund will be used to develop more R & D and business. This is because startups think that there is much greater opportunity than virtual CISO.

Azoulay said, “Cyber security consulting space is $ 163 billion, but I don’t really have an operating system.” We think Cynomi can be the operating system. “

Some groups have a significant group that identifies dozens of cyber security companies and service providers as a major sales channel for SMEs. This includes Vanta, Cohere, Qualys, Coro, Bastion, Guardz, and the like. Cybersmart, Cowbell and Dataguard.

Philine Huizing, an MD of Insight Partners, said that it was a “VCISO” hook that runs it as an investor. “We think Cynomi is defining a new category on the VCISO platform,” she said.

On the other hand, focusing on providing products in cooperation with managed service providers can be customized or reinforced with all products built or sold by other service providers, and not to differentiate the service and prevent other commercialized offers.

“MSP can have a greater impact by evaluating the unique risks of each customer, customizing strategies by industry, and managing everyday interactions efficiently,” she added.
