podcast transcript

Six years ago, in the midst of the worst pandemic the world had seen in generations, I sat down at my computer to record a new podcast.

The new show was going to cover all the random topics I found interesting, and I figured if I did that, other people would too.

Turns out you did. I really did.

Please join us as we celebrate Everything Everywhere Daily’s 6th anniversary with all of you.

Here’s a fun fact: The thing is that the vast majority of podcasts don’t make it into Episode 7. I don’t know how many podcasts are 2000 episodes old or six years old, but there aren’t many.

Before we get into your submission, I think I should briefly describe the podcast as there is quite a bit to it.

A year ago, this was still a one-man job. Today, as you know, we have two writers who help with research and writing for the show. Joel and Oliva were very helpful and took the burden off my shoulders.

I would like to say a huge thank you to them.

The podcast is doing well. Last year, the program achieved its 60 millionth download and topped the historical charts in 51 countries.

This finally gives me time to work on other projects, a few of which I can announce today.

First of all, we finally have a product store! You can finally purchase show merchandise by going to shop.everything-everywhere.com.

Fair warning. Not much yet. Right now, you can purchase shirts, mugs, everyday items, and more with the show logo. But for those of you who are a member of the completist club, I have a design in the works and will hopefully have it ready in a week or two.

Likewise, if you have any suggestions for merchandise or shirt ideas, please feel free to send them my way. When new products are released, they are announced at the show and posted on our Facebook group and Discord server. Links to both can be found in the show notes or on the website.

The second announcement is that an ad-free version of the show will soon be available on Apple Podcasts. We wanted to prepare for this episode, but we ran into some issues with Apple and it was a real close call.

It costs $3.99 per month, which averages out to about 13 cents per episode.

All new episodes will be available to start, but we’ll slowly work our way up to uploading all past episodes so you can get your club up and running quickly. There are so many episodes that it might take some time. I hope to have the most recent 2000 episodes up in a few months.

Apple has a 2000 episode limit for all podcasts, and there’s nothing I can do about that.

Everything Everywhere Weekly is also published in Apple Subscriptions Feed and Patreon.

So I asked all of you to submit voice messages sharing your favorite episodes. One interesting thing I noticed is that among all the listeners I spoke to, everyone seemed to have a different favorite episode. So I wanted to test it out, and you guys passed it along. Everyone had different favorite episodes, and I thought that was really amazing.

There were some that I couldn’t use because they weren’t recorded properly, and some that were edited out because they were too long, but other than that, I got everything.

It’s longer than a regular episode, but I think people who have been listening to the show for a long time will enjoy it because it’s a walk down memory lane.

Let’s start with some names you may already be familiar with.
