Emirates, already the world's largest operator of the Boeing 777, has ordered 90 additional Boeing 777s.
The Dubai-based airline has ordered 55 777-9 and 35 777-8 jets. The new order brings Emirates' Boeing 777 backlog to 205 aircraft.
The 777-9 seats 426 passengers in a typical two-class configuration and has a range of 7,295 nautical miles. The 777-8 seats 395 passengers and has a range of up to 8,745 nautical miles.
Boeing's relationship with Emirates dates back to the airline's first 777 order in 1992. Emirates currently has about 150 777s in its fleet.
Emirates also said it has updated the airline's 787 Dreamliner order book to better align future production capacity with future demand. Emirates plans to purchase five additional 787s, increasing its 787 backlog to 35 and converting 30 787-9s to 20 787-8s and 10 787-10s.
