Railbookers has launched a new itinerary featuring six train journeys linking New Zealand's two main islands.
Rail holiday package companies have stopped offering trips to New Zealand due to the pandemic.
The journey lasts from 8 to 19 days and travels on New Zealand's three main rail services: Northern Explorer, Coastal Pacific and TranzAlpine. Where applicable, the trip includes a trip on the Interislander ferry across Cook Strait between the North and South Islands.
Northern Explorer operates between Auckland and Wellington in the North Island, Coastal Pacific operates between Picton and Christchurch, and TranzAlpine operates between Christchurch and Greymouth.
Sightseeing activities include exploring the destination's natural landscapes (e.g. Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Fiordland National Park) or cultural experiences such as a three-course traditional Maori feast.

“The diversity of experiences New Zealand offers is truly awe-inspiring to travelers from all over the world,” says Sarah Handley, Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager for the Americas and Europe. “Itineraries here can take you to national parks, beautiful beaches, thrilling dive spots, stunning fjords, bubbling geothermal areas, exciting adventures, scenic wine regions and iconic Hollywood film locations.”
Prices range from $2,499 per person for an eight-day itinerary to $8,099 per person for a 19-day itinerary.
