Japan Airlines (JAL) has revealed cabin interiors for the 13 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft it has ordered.
The airline plans to deploy its first A350-1000 on the Tokyo Haneda-New York route by the end of this year. The plane is the largest of the A350 models.
JAL said the interior will set a new standard for the airline’s international offering, with redesigned seats across all four cabin classes. The aircraft will feature six first-class suites, 54 business-class suites, 24 premium economy and 147 economy seats.
The A350-1000 will be JAL’s first aircraft to feature privacy doors in both first and business class. First and business class seats will offer what JAL calls the world’s first airline to offer headphone-less speakers. The speakers are built into the headrests, and passengers can adjust the headrest flaps to fit their ears.
The first-class suites feature 62-inch wall height and a sofa that converts to a single bed with seating or a double bed. The suites feature a 43-inch entertainment screen.
In business class, JAL's A350-1000 will feature 52-inch high walls and 24-inch screens. The seats will lie flat and are 6.5 feet long.
The beds and monitors in both cabins are larger than those in the Boeing 777-300ER cabins that JAL's A350-1000 will replace on the Haneda-New York route.

According to Aerolopa.com, the airline’s new premium economy class offers 42 inches of space between rows with seats that are up to 19 inches wide, similar to JAL’s Boeing 777-300. The seats also feature enlarged privacy screens and 16-inch monitors. That’s about a third larger than the premium economy cabin on JAL’s Boeing 777-300.
JAL's economy seats on its A350-1000 have 33 to 34 inches of pitch between rows and up to 18 inches wide. That's slightly less than the 18.5 inches on the airline's Boeing 777-300, but the row-to-row space is similar.
Most economy seats feature 13-inch monitors, up from the 10.6-inch monitors on the Boeing 777-300. Monitors in all cabin classes are high-resolution.
JAL won the Best Economy Class award at this year's Skytrax World Airline Awards.
