San Francisco, California, USA, July 15, 2024, Chainwire
The doors are now open for Web3 and Web2 developers to build projects based on Constellation Network’s long-awaited Hypergraph distributed ledger technology, which has been in development for several years under various contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense.
Constellation’s Global Metagraph Hackathon is a completely virtual event running from July 15 to September 9, 2024, with no entry fee. A total of $100,000 worth of DAG (Constellation Network’s cryptocurrency) will be distributed to winners in multiple categories, including Metagraph development and on-chain tooling, with the most successful Metagraph receiving the largest single prize of $25,000.
Constellation is officially unveiling its “Metagraph” application layer technology running on top of the Hypergraph global consensus layer to a global audience through the hackathon. A Metagraph can be any type of Layer 1 decentralized application (dApp) network or legacy Web2 network with its own internal business logic. Other blockchains can also be Metagraphs on top of Constellation’s Hypergraph.
“Constellation’s Hypergraph is a blockchain of blockchains,” says Ben Jorgensen, CEO of Constellation Network. “The best way for all of us to leverage Web3 and blockchain technology is through interoperability and collaboration between chains and communities. There are a lot of people building these networks separately that can support decentralized AI, tokenized assets, IoT edge computing, decentralized finance, and many of the other Web3 creations that seem to be popping up everywhere.”
“But what about Hypergraph?” Ben continued. “It can provide the underlying infrastructure to connect everything, make everything interoperable, secure the network, and validate data flows.”
Panasonic and IBM have joined forces with Constellation, SIMBA Chain, C14 cryptocurrency onramping service, Stardust Collective, and the National DigiFoundry, led by members of the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Space Force, and the U.S. Treasury, to support the development of a revolutionary new metagraph technology that will enable interoperability in space in ways never before seen.
Constellation's fast, lightweight Hypergraph network is a unique design that uses DAG-based infrastructure and microservices to create a fundamental digital transport layer with a flexible structure and application network overlay (metagraph). This facilitates interoperability and composability across Web3 and legacy Web2 networks, providing the network security, data validation, scalability, and simplified onboarding required for enterprise and government adoption.
“Interoperability” is a buzzword in the Web3 space, and can be described as every network having to communicate with every other network. For example, a smart factory or city where multiple networks of IoT devices communicate and share data, each network communicating over the underlying hypergraph via its own metagraph network.
“I’ve been looking forward to this year since I started the company. It’s always been our vision to provide developer-friendly, publicly available blockchain tools for the masses. This hackathon marks the beginning of the many expressions that Metagraph has to offer, and the list of use cases seems limitless. I’m grateful to the team that made this possible, and to the partners who stepped up and helped make this a reality.”
– Benjamin Diggles, Chief Strategy Officer
Constellation’s metagraph is compatible with any data type, interfaces directly with external data sources, accommodates existing Scala or Java libraries, provides full control over validation and consensus logic within the network, and can scale to the level your application needs with a multi-tier microservices architecture.
“With technology validated against the rigorous standards of the U.S. Department of Defense and collaborations with industry giants like Panasonic and IBM, this hackathon is more than a competition. It’s an invitation for developers around the world to pioneer the next generation of decentralized applications and transform the digital landscape.”
– Global Community Architect, Altif Brown
