Protea Hotels by Marriott Expands Presence in Africa: Travel Weekly

Marriott Protea Hotels celebrates its 40th anniversary with the opening of its first hotel in the Angolan capital Luanda and two hotels in Pretoria, South Africa.

This opening expands the brand’s footprint to over 60 hotels across nine African countries.

Protea by Marriott Luanda features 84 guest rooms and suites, a restaurant that combines Portuguese and Angolan cuisine, a rooftop bar with panoramic city views, a fully equipped gym, and an outdoor pool with a waterfall. The hotel’s interior design incorporates contemporary furniture in African-style terracotta colors, furniture made from locally sourced materials, and paintings by renowned Angolan artist Guilherme Mampuya.

Protea at Marriott Pretoria Hatfield features 203 modern guest rooms, an African restaurant and bar serving fusion cuisine from around the world and Africa, a 30-seat bar and five state-of-the-art conference venues suitable for large and small gatherings.
