The 2024 Target Halloween birds are already sold out online, but don’t give up hope! The retailer restocked the Halloween birds from last year. There are also huge resale markets on websites like eBay and Mercari.
While we pray for Target's Halloween new merchandise to be back in stock, we're answering some common questions about these little birds and introducing you to this year's spooky feathery friends.
What is a feather friend?
Standing about 6 inches tall, Featherly Friends are decorative fabric birds. They feature round, lightweight bodies made of Styrofoam and polyester. Each bird wears a different outfit inspired by the season or holiday.
Feathery Friends have become quite popular due to their quirky design and affordable price of just $5 per bird.
When will the Target Halloween bird come out?
If you want the best chance of catching the Target Halloween bird, you'll need to wake up early, as the retailer typically releases its Halloween and fall Feathery Friends between July and August.
If you're already thinking about Christmas, check out the delightful Feathery Friends at Target in September.
On which holidays does Target release birds?
If you look at the Target Bird Wiki (I told you these birds have a loyal fandom), you'll see that you can find a bird for almost any holiday.
Although there are slight differences each year, you can generally expect Featherly Friends to be released around the next holiday or season.
- Valentine's Day
- Easter
- pride
- summer
- Halloween
- Day of the Dead
- Harvest (Thanksgiving)
- christmas
During big holidays like Christmas, Target often releases ornaments and accessories featuring these feathered friends, as well as mini birds.
Which retailers are selling counterfeit Target Buds?
Other retailers noticed the growing popularity of Featherly Friends and began making their own products.
If Target's Halloween bird isn't back in stock this year (and you don't want to spend a ton of money on the resale market), check out retailers that have sold the same Target bird in the past.
- Hobby Lobby
- Home goods
- Walgreens
- Walmart
- World Market
It seems like new stores are adding Target Birds versions to their shelves every year, so it's worth keeping your eyes open while you're shopping.
Meet the 2024 Target Halloween Bird
Now that you know the basics about Featherly Friends, we're proud to introduce you to this year's new Halloween lineup from Target!
Note that not many people are fond of the bird's mouth shape this year. Fortunately, it looks like you can remove the bird's mouth with scissors and tweezers.
Note: Most of Target's Halloween 2024 Featherly Friends
It's currently out of stock. Looking at past years' performance, it's possible that this year will be different, but it will most likely be back in stock in stores within the next few weeks.
Bartrick

As you might have guessed from its funny name, Batrick is an almost black bird with bat wings and ears. Its wings have a funny spiderweb pattern and its mouth is full of sharp teeth.

glitter

Instead of dressing up like a monster, Glitter took inspiration from punk rockers. With neon glasses and a green mohawk, this hot pink bird knows how to party.

Gurdong

A rather handsome gentleman, Gourdon is a bird in a pinstripe jacket with a jack-o'-lantern face and purple lapels. A green bow tie and black top hat complete the creepy yet sophisticated look.

hood T-shirt

The God of Death has never looked this cute. Hoodie makes for a fearsome outfit, armed with a black cape with red accents, a gray bow tie, and a fearsome scythe.

Ponson

My favorite from Target's Halloween birds collection this year is Pawson. This Featherly Friend is dressed in a cat costume with a gray face and orange pumpkin body, and is equally creepy and cute.

shining

Designed with a spider body, Skitter has spider legs instead of wings and a mouth full of sharp teeth. There is also a white spider web design surrounding this Featherly Friend.

Spellma

The witch target bird, Spellma, has come to cast a spell on you. With its purple and black witch hat and green collared jacket, this bird will make you giggle with joy when you see it.

X-ray

This latest addition to the Halloween Target bird lineup features neon colors that are very similar to glitter, but this feathered friend is more of a zombie bird than a punk rocker.
