Langham Hospitality plans major expansion in Asia: Travel Weekly

NEW YORK — Langham Hospitality Group is gearing up for a major expansion, with CEO Bob van den Oord saying the company plans to grow to more than 100 hotels, with a focus on Asia.

Currently headquartered in Hong Kong, the company operates 32 hotels worldwide.

Van den Oort shared more details at a media event at Langham New York Fifth Avenue on Thursday, telling attendees that the company expects to grow to 50 hotels in China alone.

Langham Hospitality Group’s expansion in China is expected to be led by the group’s upscale Cordis Hotels and Resorts brand and the limited-service Ying’nFlo concept, which debuted in 2022 and now has two locations in Hong Kong. Van den Oord described Ying’nFlo as “well-designed and very affordable”, and said each property will be based around a casual food and beverage concept called House of Ying’nFlo, where guests can “just hang out, send an email, have a coffee or have a bowl of noodles”.

“With 1.3 billion people in China who travel extensively, we think there is a huge opportunity for these brands,” van den Oord said.

Flagship brands also enter expansion mode

The company’s flagship luxury brand, Langham Hotels and Resorts, is also in expansion mode, most recently announcing The Langham Customs House Bangkok. The hotel, which is set to open in 2026, is set to be located along the Chao Phraya River in the Thai capital’s Bang Rak district.

The Langham brand also plans to open Langham Venice on the island of Murano in 2027 and Langham Diriyah in downtown Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2029.

Van den Oord added that the company is in the final stages of completing Langham projects in Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Busan.

The company also wants to expand its Eaton concept, founded in 2014 by Katherine Lo, daughter of Langham Hospitality chairman Lo Ka Shui. In addition to its existing Eaton hotels in Washington and Hong Kong, van den Oord said the company is in talks to bring the socially conscious lifestyle brand to cities including London, Sydney and Bangkok.
