LEGO holiday collections to buy before they sell out

If there’s a LEGO builder in your life, you’ll have plenty of new gift options this holiday season. Every year since 2009, LEGO has added one set to the LEGO Winter Village collection. Added this year? Santa’s Post Office. Additionally, LEGO is releasing five other holiday-themed sets for Christmas 2024.

When seasonal sets are first released, they will be sold exclusively on LEGO.com or the LEGO Store. And they tend to sell out quickly. Last year’s special seasonal build, the Christmas tree, was backordered until early December. These holiday sets typically don’t appear at regular retailers until the following season (when the following year’s new sets arrive). So don’t expect sales.

That said, LEGO is also releasing six themed advent calendar sets this year. (Themes include Spider-Man, Disney Princesses, Harry Potter, and more.) If you’ve been collecting LEGO Winter Village sets every year, you’ve already purchased the gingerbread house, toy workshop and festive train. This year’s set, Santa’s Post Office, is LEGO’s 16th addition. This follows on from last year’s Alpine Lodge.

Naturally, the snow-covered post office is overflowing with letters to Santa, which travel down the letter chute to the mail sorting area. Santa can read letters in his cozy study by the log fire. A hot air balloon carrying letters is placed right outside, ready to fly with a light burner. This 1,440-piece set is intended for ages 18 and older. But once built, kids will have fun with the Santa minifigure and 4 elf minifigures.

Apparently the LEGO folks think Santa’s reindeer could help carry presents. Otherwise, why would you release a set of Santa’s delivery trucks? Of course, it’s not limited to LEGO’s 2024 holiday offerings. The company has been releasing holiday sets for several years now, so there are plenty of options to get you in the holiday spirit.

That means LEGO will retire the sets after a few years, and Home Alone will be retired at the end of 2025. So if you’ve always dreamed of building a Kevin McCallister home, you should buy one soon!
