Honey Glazed Wild Salmon | healthy home economist

Honey-glazed salmon is a delicious and popular way to serve delicious fish rich in omega-3 fats.

But every recipe I’ve seen over the years involves heating the honey to a high temperature while the salmon is seared, grilled, or pan-fried.

According to traditional eating habits, raw honey should never be cooked.

In particular, Ayurvedic principles warn that consuming honey cooked, baked, or added to hot liquids may worsen health over time.

The heated honey molecules become glue-like, sticking to the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, creating toxins and harming beneficial digestive flora.

So if you want to enjoy a delicious honey glaze on your salmon, don’t heat it while the fish is cooking.

My solution is to add honey to the glaze just before serving.

Solve the problem without losing flavor!

guideline

  1. Grease a stainless steel pan that fits your toaster oven with 1 tablespoon butter. This makes it easy to remove the salmon from the pan without using the foil.

  2. Place 4 salmon fillets, skin side up, in greased pan. Cooking with the skin side up allows the fat from the skin to leach through the meat while the fillets are cooking. This will ensure moist results. I got this tip from a chef a few years ago!

  3. Place the pan in the toaster oven and switch the setting to Dark Toast (4.5 minutes).

  4. Press Start and toast the fish until the oven switches off automatically.

  5. Switch toast setting to medium (2.5 minutes). Press Start and once again cook the fish on a low setting until the oven turns off.

  6. Leave the fillets in the heat of the toaster oven, switched off, while you prepare the honey glaze.

  7. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan.

  8. Add the minced garlic to the butter and cook over medium heat until the garlic begins to brown, 2 minutes.

  9. Add soy sauce and simmer over low heat for 1 more minute. Remove the pan from the stovetop and set it aside for a few minutes to cool slightly.

  10. Remove salmon from toaster oven and place fillets on plate.

  11. Add fresh lemon juice and raw honey to the pan with the warm sauce and stir until well combined. Immediately drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of the honey garlic glaze over each fillet.

  12. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
