Phil Lesh: Grateful Dead co-founder dies at age 84

Phil Lesh, bassist and co-founder of American rock group The Grateful Dead, has died at the age of 84.

On the agency’s official Instagram, it is written, “He passed away peacefully this morning.” He was surrounded by his family.

Formed in California in 1965, the psychedelic band disbanded 30 years later following the death of frontman Jerry Garcia.

Lesh was with them from the beginning, and joined the other surviving members of the group for a reunion tour of the United States in 2003.
