Frazer Clarke could resume his boxing career in April after avoiding “long-term injury” in his first-round knockout loss to Fabio Wardley.
Clarke underwent successful surgery to repair jaw and cheekbone damage after suffering a dramatic early defeat in his rematch with Wardley in Saudi Arabia last month.
Promoter Ben Shalom later revealed that Clarke had been cleared to return earlier than expected.
“Frazer Clarke, thankfully more than anything, suffered no long-term damage,” Shalom said. Sky Sports.
“He had a brain scan and everyone involved breathed a sigh of relief.
“Having the surgery without plates or screws is another huge plus. He will need the rest of the year to recover before he can return to the gym.
“April is a month of goals for us, so to sit here now and talk about when he’s going to play next game proves he can make an impact physically and psychologically.”
“But the way he handled it, the way he walked, the way he talks now, the motivation to come back is good to see.
“Vic Frazier is a fan favorite and I think he can use this experience to go on to achieve what we all know he is capable of.”
British rivals Jeamie TKV could be Clarke’s future opponents after his recent stoppage win over Franklin Ignatius.
“Why not? It’s up to this guy here (Ben Shalom) to put on a show.
“But Jeamie is ready to go,” said TKV trainer Barry Smith.
