The Manchester Box Cup final will be broadcast live. sky sports May 25th.

The amateur tournament will showcase the talents of future stars from the region and further afield.

Home to famous world champions such as Ricky Hatton and Anthony Crolla, Manchester has long been the center of a vibrant British boxing scene in both amateur and professional sport.

Boxers from the city’s renowned amateur clubs, as well as from across the country and abroad, will all be competing in the 2025 Manchester Box Cup.

“It’s a great platform for boxing in the North West,” said tournament organizer David Pownall. “This is our fourth year, but we are taking it to the next level.

Former WBA lightweight world champion Crolla is currently a trainer and works with amateur boxers at Fox ABC.

He will have players competing in the Manchester Box Cup.

“We’re growing every year,” Crolla said. “People are coming from all over the UK, some even flying in. The event is growing and it’s great to see, the standards are really high.

“There are kids who struggle to fight outside of the Championships, but the best players take part in the Manchester Box Cup and other Box Cups because they want to test themselves.

“If you go to an amateur show, most of the fights on the card are matched up as 50-50 fights. You’re going to get a few big cuts. It’s packed to the rafters and it’s a fight that could swing either way, and they return. They’re going to have a rematch, I hope people get to see more of that side of amateur boxing.

“They’re going to see a lot of good things come out of it.

“Boxing gyms help get kids off the streets,” Crolla explained. “That’s one of the great things about amateur boxing. Amateur boxing gyms are special places, from the volunteers to the activities for children on the estate.

“There will always be good crowds” for this tournament, he added. “Manchester will always be a fighting city.”
