Jumeirah expands into Africa: Travel Weekly

Global hotel group Jumeirah is making its first foray into Africa through a partnership with Thanda Group, which manages two Thanda hotels in Tanzania and South Africa.

The facilities that will carry the Jumeirah brand are Jumeirah Thanda Island, an exclusive use facility in the Shungimbili Island Marine Reserve in Tanzania, and Jumeirah Thanda Safari in the KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa.

The partnership combines Jumeirah’s luxury hotel expertise with Thanda Group’s strong presence in Africa. The company was founded in 2002 by Swedish entrepreneurs Christin and Dan Olofsson.

“This exceptional hotel not only marks our first foray into Africa, a market that continues to see growth in the luxury travel sector, but also represents Jumeirah’s new style of experience, with everything from complete exclusivity to experiential opportunities.” Thomas Meier, COO and Interim CEO, said:
