Luxury safari operator Singita has expanded its portfolio with the opening of Kilima, an exclusive villa in Tanzania’s Grumeti Reserve for luxury families and groups seeking an intimate Serengeti experience with a focus on wellness and nature connection.
The new hotel, whose name means “mountain” in Swahili, can accommodate up to 10 guests across five suites. Perched on Sasakwa Hill within the 350,000-acre reserve, Kilima offers panoramic views of the Serengeti plains and a prime location to witness the annual wildebeest migration.

In line with Singita’s concept of Wholeness, the villa integrates wellness experiences throughout the guest journey. The property features a dedicated yoga and fitness area along with wellness treatments that take advantage of the restorative nature of the surrounding landscape. Private heated pools in some suites and infinity pools overlooking the plains provide additional opportunities for relaxation.
Dedicated staff, personal experience
The villa’s design combines modern luxury with traditional African elements, featuring earthy tones and natural textures throughout the indoor and outdoor spaces. Our dedicated staff, including personal field guides, private chefs and butlers, provide bespoke safari experiences, from intimate dinners under the stars to private wine tastings in the villa’s cellar.

Recognizing the growing trend of multi-generational safaris, Kilima offers specialized programs for younger guests. Children can take part in the Mini Rangers Course to learn tracking and bush survival skills, as well as cooking classes, guided nature walks and supervised arts and crafts sessions. This allows parents to fully participate in their own wellness experience or safari activity.
Located in the Grumeti Reserve, renowned for its excellent game viewing, the property is located along an ancient wildlife migration route. Indoor and outdoor living spaces are designed to maximize views of the meadows below, creating a seamless connection between luxury accommodations and the natural environment.
The opening comes as luxury safari operators continue to see growing demand for exclusive properties that offer both privacy and flexibility for families and groups. Kilima joins Singita’s existing portfolio of private villas across Africa, including properties in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
