Oppo’s next foldable will be as thin as USB-C allows.

According to photos released by Oppo, Oppo’s upcoming Find N5 foldable phone is barely thicker than its own USB-C port when unfolded. The flagship, which is expected to be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 for its US launch, also features best-in-class water resistance.

Oppo has been steadily announcing the Find N5 on Chinese social network Weibo for the past week. Find series product manager Zhou Yibao has now shared a photo highlighting its size, adding that the obstacle to making it thinner is now the ‘limitation of the charging port’.

The photos follow a video from last week showing Zhou comparing the hidden Find N5 to a series of everyday objects, showing that it is similar in thickness to two Chinese yuan, four bundles of ID cards or 39 sticky notes.

The company claims that the Find N5 is its thinnest foldable to date. That title is currently held by the Honor Magic V3, which measures 4.35mm thick when open. This means the Find N5 should be closer to 4mm. This explains why it appears to be about half the size of the 8.25mm iPhone 16 Pro Max shown next to the photo. For reference, the USB-C port is at least 2.6mm long.

In a separate post, Zhou touted the phone’s water resistance, boasting an IPX9 rating. This means that it currently has no official dust protection (‘X’), but has been tested to withstand high temperatures and high pressure water jets. It is also rated IPX8 when submerged in water and IPX6 when exposed to cold water jets. This month’s OnePlus 13 is rated IP69 and also features dust protection.

Oppo’s previous foldable, the Find N3 (the N4 was omitted due to death-related numbers in China), eventually launched in the West as the OnePlus Open. If the same thing happens again, there will be serious competition for the current generation of foldables from Samsung and Google. We’ll find out more when the Find N5 launches in China next month.
