Irish boxer John Coyy died a week after a Celtic Super Feeder weight title fight in Belfast’s Ulster Hall.

Kuni, 28, was stopped on February 1 in the 9th round of Wales far Nathanhawell, was taken to a hospital, undergoing brainstorms, and was subject to intensive treatment.

His promoter MHD promotion announced on Saturday that he died on social media.

“John Coyy died sadly,” “We are completely devastated after we fought for his life for a week,” he read.

“MR & MRS COONEY and his fiancé Emmaleen express my gratitude to all those who sent the messages of Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital and the support and instruments to save John’s life.

“He was a beloved son, brother and partner, and we all needs to forget how special he is. Rip John ‘The Kid Coyy’.”

COONEY won the Celtic Super-Featherweight title in Dublin in November 2023 with Liam Gaynor. Katie Taylor won as part of a sold out show as he defeated Chantelle Cameron with a number of decisions.

He spent a year on the ring due to a hand injury, but in October last week, he returned to defeat Tampella Ma Harush in York Hall.
