Remote and resources rich in Cook Islands recorded old allies through dealing with China.

The Cook System can be small, but his ambitions are strong, and his signatures on various transactions with China have increased stimuli and concern without consulting with the public or New Zealand.

This contract is the first type with a country, not a traditional allies. They cover infrastructure, ship construction, tourism, agriculture, technology, education and probably deep sea mineral exploration.

Mark Brown said his decision would be based on the “long -term profit” of the Cook Islands, which are rich in remote, resources and vulnerable to climate change.

Not everyone agrees with him. The new broad transaction with Beijing has been protested against Rarotonga, the largest Cook island, and has no trust in Brown in the surviving parliament this week. They also worryed about Australia, another powerful allies.

New Zealand said it was “blinded,” but Brown believes that his country is independent and does not need to consult on a problem that he is not worried about Wellington.

Nevertheless, he tried to reassure Australia and New Zealand that dealing with China did not replace their relationship. But the obvious Subb seems to loosen the grip on the west of the Pacific Ocean.

In the Pacific Ocean, China’s injury is not new. Regardless of whether the Solomon System is signing a security contract or whether it provides medical services from the Tonga, the presence of China is increasing. And the United States and allies made a consistent effort to respond.

But the Trump administration has a new epidemiology, improving its relationship with allies like Ukraine and increasingly unpredictable.

Since the 1960s, the Cook Islands have been known as the “free association” with New Zealand, a former colony. Wellington helps with issues such as defense and diplomatic issues, and Cook Island residents have New Zealand citizenship.

The two countries are very close. There are about 15,000 Cook Islands in the Pacific Island country, but 100,000 people live in New Zealand and Australia. Culturally, Cook Island Māori, which constitutes the majority of the population, is also closely related to New Zealand Maori, but is closely related to each other.

“(The relationship with New Zealand connects us politically and connects us with Aote’s brothers and sisters.

“We have partnerships with countries with democratic principles, such as democracy, and we are not? We do not want to sell our land and the sea to the highest bidders. It is for us -for our children.”

Brown’s deal with China is not the only signal that wants to move away from New Zealand, where he is concerned. He recently abandoned his proposal to introduce Cook Islands Passport. According to the public’s cry.

In a country that is not familiar with the exhibition of great protests, hundreds of people recently gathered outside the parliamentary parliamentary parliament, holding the following placards and “connected to New Zealand”.

However, there are many Cook Island residents who are backed by Brown in New Zealand.

Chinese expert PhilippiPINOV said, “The Pacific island country has its own organization, its own motivation and its ability in the Pacific island.”

He thinks that the recent development of the Cook Islands is, “I think that it is part of a small game between the Pacific to Australia, China and New Zealand.

The United States has long been dominant forces in the regional security and military sectors, but China has tried to strengthen its relationship with small but strategic Pacific islands through aid, infrastructure and security transactions.

As a result, people like the United States and the United Kingdom have strengthened their diplomatic position in this area. It was clear that Australia would interfere with support. However, it is unclear how far US President Donald Trump will continue his promise of his predecessor in this area. Beijing uses this.

Last week, a plane flying between New Zealand and Australia China carried out a military movement related to living fire. Australia and New Zealand were following the three Chinese warships that were said to be escalations and unexpected power shows that experts said along the eastern coast of Australia.

“In the number game, China will always be ahead of a small country with a small navy, and Australia’s navy is a historic low place.”

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wanted to emphasize that international law did not collapse and training in international waters. In fact, many pointed out that Australia and allies often sail warships through the South China Sea.

Mihai Sora, head of the Pacific System Program at the Lowy Institute of Australia, said, “China seems to want to take advantage of Trump’s chaos. “China uses that moment to see Australia, you actually alone. Where is the United States in all this?”

Balancing

Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Australia, freely admits that “we are in a permanent competitive state in our region.”

Talking about the warship last week, the Australian government tried to reassure the public about the intentions of China and wanted to tell Australians that everything was in hand. It is not a coincidence as Australia heads towards the federal election in the next few months.

Philip Ivanov said, “Peter Dutton is from this national security and the background of the Ministry of Home Affairs, so the government doesn’t want to give air to criticize labor,” Philip Ivanov said.

The United States was traditionally a powerful supporter of the Pacific Islands.

But it also focuses on the dilemma faced by this part of the world.

“Canberra will challenge all the single movements of Beijing and reflect the fact that Canberra and Beijing have given off their strategic interests.

But he also added that he has a “great commonality.” For example, China is Australia’s largest trade partner and New Zealand.

“So you must be able to ride these two words at the same time.”

It’s not an easy relationship. Never did it. The bigger surprise is the US, the traditional allies.

Many of the Trump administration still describe China as a threat, but the US allies are not sure what to expect from the Washington Beijing relationship.

And as Trump threatens steel and aluminum tariffs and foreign support withdrawal, Australia feels isolated at any time. The recent activities of Chinese warships in Tasu Manhae play a role in emphasizing that isolation.

Ivanov said, “I will not think of them as military acts.”

“Political behavior can do this whenever we want. You can’t do anything about it, and the United States tears the global system, so nothing about it is done.”
