Former Caddy Steve Williams of Tiger Woods has sponsored him to overcome his latest injuries and believes that the five -master champion’s career is “not yet achieved.”
Woods has been in charge of limited schedules in the last few years since the car accident occurred in February 2021, leaving him with a leg of his career and ankle injuries, leaving only 11 official starts in the last four seasons and completing only 72 holes in just four times.
NO 1 around the world will miss the master. I have lived in SKY SPORT since April 10-13After rupture of S-Achilles, I questioned the question and competitive behavior of participating in the rest of the season.
Williams made a caddy for him from 1999 to 2011, and played an important role in 13 of his 15 major victories, and New Zealand still expects Woods to attempt and challenge.
Williams says, “Tiger is still in charge.” I told SKY SPORTS GOLF PODCAST. “Obviously he was injured by another frustration, but I really believe he will not give him a chance to beat another major.
“He still wants to reach the point where he can practice and feel that he can stand in the 72 hole.
“He’s not over yet!”
Was Tiger’s career different without Williams?
Williams have already been caddy for over 20 years and have worked for the main winners Greg Norman and Raymond Floyd when replaced Mike “Fluff” Cowan in March 1999 with Woods’s loops, and it became clear where the priority of the future Grand Slam winner was in the future.
Williams said, “When I went to work with Tiger and talked about what his plan was and what his goal was, there was an overwhelming importance in major championships.
“After winning the Masters (1997), he did not win another major championship when he stepped on his bag in 1999, and he had a chance to win all major majors, and he did not earn his career.
The couple had a great success in the PGA Championship at the end of that year, and there was a decision that Williams decided to ignore Woods in the second hole.
Williams said, “Tiger read the putt and said that he was outside the hole, but he was convinced that he was in the hole,” Williams admitted. “This is the first time we had a chance to beat the major.
“He knocked on the putt and who knew where his career went, he didn’t tap without winning Sergio. The second major was the most difficult player to win, and you saw the number of players who won only one major championship.
“Tiger was clearly won in 1999, so he didn’t start 2000 with the additional pressure to win his second major and to start running. At the moment I ignored the Tiger, I was the right place, and after that, our trust afterwards was born.”
Woods acquired three of the four major majority, including record margins, including US Open and Open in 2000. He won the Masters in April and had four major majority at the same time.
He saw the US Open (US Open), which won seven victories in 11 majors following the 2002 title defense.
Williams said, “Everything breaks Jack’s Nicklaus record for 18 major championships.” “As I go every year, I have a lot more pressure as I go to all majors. I really believed that he would be unlawful.
“His dedication, his driving, practice, the way he played and prepared, and we reached the vertex for the major is better than anyone else. Tiger has a lot of pressure, but it’s a great pressure and object we flourished.”
The chip and their legacy together
Woods could not add it to his major Tali for the next two seasons, but in 2005, he defeated Chris Dimarco as a playoff and made one of the biggest shots in major history with his amazing chip Buddy on the 16th.
Williams said, “When the tiger hit the ball in the tee, I think ‘Jeez, it’s a little left!’
“I thought it was in the bunker. Then it’s not a bunker. Then I’m in the water. I’m not in the water. I don’t know where it went and what’s there! Tiger, we walk from the tee to the green, asking what is there. I didn’t know what was there!
“Tiger said: ‘Do you think you won’t roll too far over the hill if you land a ball on this pitch mark? Well, he landed the ball on the pitch mark correctly.
“He was standing there for the rest of his life and was shot as much as he wanted. He never reproduced the shot. It was just an amazing moment.”
Williams was there to comfort him in the opening a year later, and since Woods’ father, the first major extended the golf course until it was separated in 2011.
We roared together -The new book of Williams -Partnership reflects more on the end of the partnership and limited communication. The veteran caddy has long spent with 82 PGA Tour winners.
Williams said, “When he came to the course, he was all business.” “It was his job, he was in charge and wanted to make the most of his ability on the golf course every day.
“He definitely had a softer side, and only the people around me were able to see it on the golf course. He had a very kind touch.
“I was very lucky to bring one of the greatest players and became a member of golf history. He was amazing to work and was very generous to me and my family.
“I am very lucky to have a praise for the man and I can stand him and be able to play the best golf.”
