Donald Trump’s politics has changed significantly in the public area for decades. But since the 1980s, one consistent is his belief that tariffs are an effective means of promoting the US economy.
Now he applies his presidency to the right work.
Trump announced that he would sweep new tariffs in a wide range of countries such as allies, competitors and enemies, surrounded by friends, conservative politicians and cabinets at the White House.
The president recalled the long -standing landscape of tariffs, as well as initial criticism of free trade agreements such as the NAFTA and the World Trade Organization, as well as in the equal partial congratulations and self -celebration speeches regularly bent by the crowd.
The president admitted that he would face push bags in the push bags of “Worldist” and “Special Interest”, but Americans urged them to trust their instincts.
“Don’t forget, our opponents have been found to have been completely wrong for the past 30 years.”
Now, Surrounded by torture he has the same thoughts and controls the amount of parliament, Trump is in a position to change his vision for a new US -centered trade policy. He said these policies made the United States a rich country a century ago and would do it again.
“For many years, American citizens who work hard had to sit in a side job as they were rich and strong in other countries,” he said. “Today’s actions will finally make the United States a bigger United States at any time.”
President Lee is still a tremendous danger.
All striped economists warned that the large -scale tariffs will be delivered to US consumers with 53%in China, 20%of the European Union and Korea, and 10%of all countries.
KEN ROGGOFF, former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund, predicted that the world’s largest economy, the world’s largest economy, rose to 50%after this announcement.
ROGGOFF told the BBC World Service that “he just dropped a nuclear bomb from the global trade system.”
Trump’s movement also is at risk of expanding trade wars with other countries and alienating the allies that the United States attempted to strengthen his relationship with other countries. For example, the United States sees Japan and Korea as a disagreement with China’s extension of the extension. But these three countries have recently announced that they will work together to cope with the US trade policy.
But if Trump is successful, he will fundamentally reconstruct the global economic order that the United States originally helped to build in the ashes of World War II. He promises that this will rebuild the US, create new sources of income, and further independently and insert the United States from the global supply chain of confusion in the United States.
It is a big order -and many people believe that they are unrealistic. But for the president who has been fixed to strengthen his legacy, such as ending the war, changing geographic positions, acquiring new territory, or dismantling federal programs, this is the biggest award.
He will be American “Liberation Day” style.
But what looks clear is that if the announcement of Wednesday follows, it is almost certain to show historical changes. The question is whether it is a miscarriage or notorious of achievement.
Trump’s speech won. His movement depended on the potential costs that could impose the US economy and his political position.
But he said that it is worth it. At the end of his words, he said that it was worth it, even if the small shadow of the president’s doubts reached its peak through brave.
“It will be the day you will look back in the next few years. And you will know that he was right.”
