Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned the impact of President Trump’s tariffs with investors in the second quarter of Thursday. The iPhone manufacturer saw only the “limited impact” due to tariffs in the March quarter, but COOK said it could not predict the meaning of the coming quarter. But if the situation remains the same, the company estimates that tariffs will only add $ 900 million to the cost.
The CEO told investors that this estimates are to provide some colors. The global tariff rate, policies and applications are currently unchanged for the quarterly balance and will be suspended only if new tariffs are not added.
Cook warned that this estimates should not be used to project tariffs in the future because of the “unique factors” that benefit in June.
In an interview with CNBC, COOK has also defeated the tariffs, pointing out that Apple is already sourcing about half of the US iPhone in the United States and most of the US market in Vietnam.
Cook said when an investor who had to provide more details in the June quarter, “I don’t want to predict the future because I am not sure what it will happen due to tariffs.”
He also said he would not want to predict the mix of production in the future.
