In 2020, the aunt of Roland Collier and the murder of uncle were created on Wednesday, the temporary cross memorial, which appeared in President Donald Trump’s video.

P39-1 is anonymous to a thinly expressed highway that connects Newcastle in South Africa and a small village of Normande, four hours away from Johannesburg.

This week, the single driveway road, which runs along the edge of the farm on a secluded hill in the Kwazulu-Natal province, unexpectedly discovered the target of global interest.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump embedded South Africa’s opponent Cyril Ramaphosa, creating a video that white people were persecuted. He said before that “massacre” is happening.

The most impressive scene in this video was a thousands of white cross -back aerial shots next to the road. President Trump repeatedly said more than thousands of Africans who have been killed in recent years.

The president was fast -connected with the Normande but did not mention where the road was.

But those who live nearby know better than others that their claims are not true.

The BBC visited this area on Thursday, the day after the elliptical office confrontation, and found that the cross of the P39-1 has long disappeared.

There is no burial site, and the road looks like other roads. The new grain factory was built along a stretch where the cross was once short.

What we found was shocked by the community finding itself under the spotlight, and the truth about the cross that reveals a lot of the delicate balance of racial relationships in South Africa.

Roland Collyer is a person who understands both.

The murders of his aunt, who came from the African African community in South Africa, and the murder of Uncle Glen and Vida Rapper Tea, died five years ago and led to the erection of the cross.

Their death on their farms, the attackers who stole valuables at home, led the crying of the agricultural community, and the temporary planting of the cross by fellow Africans wanted to emphasize murder among other farmers who were killed throughout South Africa.

“So the videos you are watching said to me when we were standing next to the road.”

He points to the hill towards the village where many black families live in the mud hut and explain: “The crucifixion was planted on both sides of the road and the murder of the lives taken on the farm. From the bridge below to the place we stand now.

“The cross was symbolic about what happened in the country.”

One of RafferTys’s neighbor, Rob Hoatson, talked about how he organized the cross to attract the public’s attention to the BBC.

“This is not a burial site.” He added that Trump tends to be “exaggerated”, he added that he did not care about the image of the cross. “It was a memorial. It was not a permanent memorial. It was a temporary memorial.”

Collyer continues to farming in the area, but RafferTys’s two sons have suffered a parent’s murder. He moved to Australia, and his elders sold their agriculture and moved to the city.

Many people are afraid of the future in South Africa and have one of the highest murders in the world.

In 2022, two local male Ph.D. Pica Ngwenya and Sibongiseni Madondo were convicted of the murder of Raffertys as well as robbers, and were sentenced to life and 21 years in prison.

It was a rare definition for many people in the community, and Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, said Trump has not yet had a sharp crime.

Raffertys’ murders have increased racial tensions in this area.

The police minister of South Africa had to visit the protests of the African people due to the claims of some members of the white farmers’ local black communities.

Trump mentioned this clip that shows a cross on the countryside.

Collier is pleased that Trump emphasizes attacks on white farmers, despite the wrong use of family videos.

“The entire procession was to raise international media reports on everything.” “And to understand what we are actually experiencing and the life we must live here in South Africa.

“A person must go home before it gets dark. You live behind the electric fence. It is the life we live now and you do not want to live such a life.”

His fear will be made with many of all races last year in a country with more than 26,000 murders. According to security experts, the majority of the victims are black.

Trump proposed exile to all Africans, and 49 first groups arrived in Washington early this month.

But Collyer says he will stay in Normande and he is not willing to leave South Africa.

“It is not easy to leave the father, grandfather, great -grandfather, and how hard they have worked, and what can be contributed to what they can.”

“That’s hard. After several generations, I try to pack and leave the country.

“Unfortunately, white Africans are rude called” Boer “in South Africa.

And when we work, Collyer offers a note on optimism for the future.

“If we can join in hand, black and white in this country -I think there are enough people who are willing to succeed in this country.”

In the community, there are many other people in which agriculture goes back to generation.

Follow the road to Normande Village, we meet Bethuel Mabaso.

A 63 -year -old boy grew up in this area and was surprised that his community had made international news. I learned that the president of the United States is cited as “evidence” of the goals of white farmers.

“That doesn’t happen here,” he said in his own. “We were shocked by the community when we had murder and we were sad for that family.

“I have lived here since I was young and this is a peaceful area. It hasn’t been done since then.”

For several years after Raffertys died, there was a report on the charges of some black farmers who had not attended an urgent black -related incident, such as the death of a couple.

I ask another local farm worker, MBONGISENI SHIBE (40) what is the relationship between farmers and most black employees.

“We manage all the problems that arise through discussions. If it is not effective, we ask to enter the police.” “Usually, our livestock is the same event as entering their fields, and the police search it and help the opposite.”

The violent past separation of South Africa is not lost to SHIBE, and there may be delicate racial problems here.

“We come from this country with white people, especially as a young boy on the farm.”

“But we’ve released it. We do not use it to punish others.”
