US President Donald Trump has accused Brazilian authorities for “witch hunting” by ending the prosecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
His opinion is that Brazil will not accept anyone’s “interference,” and “no one is on the law.”
Bolsonaro, who dominated Brazil between 2019 and 2022, is being trialed for attempting a coup for Lula since the 2021 election.
The former leader refused to participate in the conspiracy.
Trump said in a social media post, “There is no guilty except for the fight for people,” he said.
He praised Bolsonaro as “truly loved his country” and “strong leader.”
The US president compared Bolsonaro’s prosecution with legal events faced between his two presidents.
Trump said, “This is nothing more than an attack on political opponents. I know a lot! It happened to me,” Trump said.
Bolsonaro thanked Trump for his opinion and described it as “a clear political persecution.”
But Lula said, “Brazilian democracy defense is a problem for Brazilians, we are sovereignty.
“We will not accept other people’s interference or instructions. We have a solid and independent organ. Nobody is on the law. Especially those who attack freedom and law.”
Gleisi Hoffmann also criticized Trump.
“The US president must handle his own problems that do not respect Brazil’s sovereignty and the sovereignty of the judiciary,” he added.
At the BRICS summit of Rio de Janeiro, Lula hosted the representatives of China, Russia and other countries.
Trump has previously threatened to impose additional tariffs on the country that meets the “anti -American” policy of blocks.
Trump and Bolso Naro enjoyed a friendly relationship with the presidency at the White House in 2019.
The two later lost their presidential elections and both did not publicly recognize defeat.
A week after Lula inaugurated in January 2023, thousands of Volsona attacked the government building of Brasilia, the capital, and that federal investigators attempted a coup.
Bolsonaro was in the United States at the time and always denied the association with the riots.
He said that it was forbidden to run for a civil servant by 2030 to false the Brazilian voting system, but he plans to run with the ban for the second term in 2026.
Bolsonaro, the first speech in court last month, said the coup was “hateful.” A 70 -year -old boy was sentenced to imprisonment for decades when he was convicted.
