Trump says the EU and Mexico have faced 30% tariffs since August.

President Donald Trump has announced that the European Union and Mexico will face 30%tariffs on US imports from August 1.

He warned that if one of the US trading partners decided to retaliate, he would impose a higher income tax.

The 27 EU-largest trading partners in the United States hoped to agree with Washington before August 1 this week.

Trump said this week that the United States will impose new tariffs on products in Japan, Korea, Canada and Brazil from August 1. A similar letter was sent to several small trade partners in the United States.

Trump wrote in a letter to the chairman of the European Commission on Friday, in a letter to Ur Kula von de de Lien. Trump wrote: Trump wrote: “We have taken several years to discuss the relationship with the European Union, and we have concluded that we must escape the long -term and continuous trade deficit that flows into your tariffs, non -state, policy and trade barriers.”

“Our relationship is unfortunately far from mutual,” the letter added.

The EU often aimed at Trump’s criticism. On April 2, he proposed 20%of tariffs on blocks and dozens of other trade partners. Then, as the trade negotiations stopped, they threatened to raise EU import taxes to 50%.

Washington and Brussels hoped to reach an agreement before the end of July 9, but there was no presentation on progress.

According to the US Trade Office, in 2024, the US trade deficit with Block was $ 23.5 billion (200 billion euros).

Von der liyen said the EU was “ready to continue the contract until August 1.”

“The economy of the world does not match the level of opening of the European Union and compliance with fair trade practices,” he added.

“We will take all the necessary measures to protect EU profits, including the adoption of proportional measures if necessary.”

In a statement, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Italy added that she could reach a “fair agreement” in a statement that “it is not meaningful to cause trade war between both sides of the Atlantic.”

Dick School Prime Minister Dutch prime minister said in social media that the EU was “United and Resolute” to reach the “mutually beneficial” transaction with the United States.

The German Automotive Industry Association warned of the prospects for the expenses of the German automakers and suppliers, and said, “I am sorry that there is a threat to further expanding trade conflicts.”

Trump said in a letter to the Mexican leader that North America did not enough to prevent it from becoming a “drug shift playground”.

Trump added, “Mexico has helped to secure borders, but Mexico has not done enough.”

Trump warned that a trade partner in a letter to the EU and Mexico would be recovered by raising tariffs at a similar rate of more than 30%if it was retaliated with his import tariffs on the United States.

Mexico called it a “unfair deal” in response to Trump’s threat on Saturday.

Trump’s letter did not say that the Mexican goods traded in the US-Mexico-Canada contract in 2020 would be exempt from the tariff increase on August 1. The White House said in Canada.

Earlier this week, the White House sent a letter to Canada that threatened 35%of tariffs.

As of Saturday, the Trump administration has now proposed tariff conditions in 24 countries and the EU.

Trump’s administration is talking with trade partners for agreements, but the president has announced an overview of two agreements with the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
