ISRO, who paid 5 billion rupees (59m; 4.3 million £ 43m) to secure the position of the AX-4 group captain, said that the experiences gained during the trip to ISS will help India’s space flight.
ISRO announced plans to launch Gaganyaan, the first human space flight in 2027, and has ambitious plans to establish a space station by 2035 and send a astronaut by 2040.
Group Captain Shukla is one of the four Indian Air Force officers selected to travel to Gaganyaan last year.
Schukla, a group captain born in Luck Now, northern city on October 10, 1985, joined the Air Force in 2006 as a fighter pilot.
He flew Migs, Sukhois, Dorniers, Jaguars and Hawks and have more than 2,000 hours of flight experience.
