The United Kingdom has condemned Hong Kong authorities’ latest cash proposals for those who help democratic activists in England.
In the joint statement, Foreign Minister David Rakmi and the Minister of Interior at Evet Cooper described the measures as “another example of super national oppression.”
People are provided between $ 25,000 (HK $ 200,000) and $ 125,000 to get information to arrest 19 individuals, and are all democratic activists who live abroad.
China has been criticized for “interference” criticism of this type of appeal, and has previously been made three times.
19 were accused of violating Beijing’s national security law in 2020.
The amount provided depends on the individual. The highest proposal of Fok KA-Chi, which Hong Kong police said, “Tuesday Road”, has run a social media channel called “Tuesday Road.” It appears on the list of politicians, Nathan Law, a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, and the Yuan Gong-Yi.
Such the first reward was published in July and December 2023. They targeted the Nathan Law, who spoke to the BBC that his life was more dangerous after the bounty was announced in the BBC, and in 2019, Simon Cheng, an employee of the UK, was detained in 2019.
The third reward series was aimed at six familiar activists living in England and Canada.
According to the home office, according to the special visa system introduced in 2021, about 150,000 Hong Kong residents moved to the UK.
In November last year, the Hong Kong Court sentenced to dozens of democratic leaders for several years in accordance with controversial national security trials.
Cooper and Lammy say in their statement about the latest bounty, “This government will continue to stand with Hong Kong people, including people who made British homes. We are very seriously protecting their rights, freedom and safety.”
Their joint statement said, “The UK is devoted to human rights, laws and safety of all individuals in the UK. So we took Hong Kong to remove Hong Kong in 2003 by removing Hong Kong in 2003.”
