If we start Bolton in League 1 this season, we know that Steven Schumacher still has to do.

“The club was disappointed for this size that was not in the playoff mix. When I came in, we seduced that point but could not overcome it. So this season, our focus was to identify what is necessary for improvement.”

Defensive robustness is the core of the plan. Last season, BOLTON ranked 8th in the table, but ended the campaign due to negative targets.

Schumacher said, “The noticeable problem was too many goals.” It wasn’t a problem to create or score goals, but it’s too much to score 70 goals in 46 games.

“We are more defensive, more organized, and we are focusing on evaluating the importance of defending as a team. The first few games showed good signs, but there is still enough room for improvement.”

In the six games in the campaign, Bolton scored seven points and maintained a clean seat. Six goals scored six goals and six goals.

Schumacher knows that there is a work that forms the squad and the side in the way they want.

“The best way to board the player by that approach is to benefit them,” he said. “If everyone understands that what makes all the goals keep you in the game, I see how it helps the whole team, even if you don’t play well.

“The less the goal is, the less the pressure to score several times to win the game. The best team recognizes the least goal and this will have to be imitated.”

At this level, I saw Schumacher’s last season to take Plymouth Argyle to 101 points. It was just two years ago, but since I left Stoke City last year, I thought I have been doing personal journey.

“Personally, I think I have developed more patiently,” he said. “In Argyle, we were very vast, always played in the forefoot and as if running, it was effective because it had players with energy to do it.

“In the championship, you find that you can’t always play that way because the opposition’s quality is higher, and you will be punished if you lose the ball in a poor area.

“Now I am more conscious of what’s happening in the transition and the more organized behind the ball, which is to find a balance.

The goal is that the Bolton squad is reconstructed to suit its strategy. Some patience is needed, but he is not fantastic for the club’s expectations.

“I can’t do everything in one transmission window because of the contract and other factors,” he says. “It took a few seasons to actually get the play style and personnel we wanted before we won and promoted the league in the experience of the Armyle.

“Here, there are more pressure to succeed quickly, and there is no time of that kind, but we are moving in the right direction.

“I see a lot of similarities with the successful team I had before in this group, which they made, worked hard, and combined well.

“But this club has been in League 1 for too long. In EVATT, the team approached twice and reached the semi -finals and finals, but last season did not proceed as planned.

“We know we have to promote promotions this season and at least compete for playoffs.”
