Cocoa powder is useful for creating a (healthier) handmade Nutella, but it’s also good for adding antioxidants to skin care routines. A few years ago, my friend shared that cocoa powder was used as a natural bronzer. I started experimenting with makeup and came up with this DIY NATURAL FOUNDATION powder.
This basic powder is similar to the mineral makeup found in many pharmacy shelves. But it skips some of our healthy ingredients.
How to make basic powder
I start with arrowhead powder and zinc oxide. Non -GMO corn starch can be used, but Arrowroot works better. It provides a good slide and feels too soft to my skin. Next, add cocoa powder in color and add a small golden micro for sparkles. I found that adding golden mica powder will give you a softer texture and shine your skin.
You can also mix cinnamon powder to mix brown shades. Cinnamon Powder has volatile oils that irritate sensitive skin, so be careful here. I tried several mixing to correct the color of the skin color.
There are many differences in this recipe. Making homemade makeup is more like art than science. The exact color and the basic combination depend on the application range and color you want. As a basis, zinc oxide creates a very similar makeup to a store -buying mineral makeup. When you add micro powder, the skin naturally “shines”.
I used a mix of three different natural clay powder in this recipe. They help control light, improve flaws, and balance color. You can use what you have, but I can avoid anything with gray or red tones.
How to use natural foundation powder
Because this is a powder, it usually works the best when applied to the skin with dry skin, especially when it is applied to freshly moisturized skin. When using the oil cleansing method, the skin was very moisturized and there was no problem in solving this problem. Before applying, you may need to apply a primer, liquid foundation, lotion or thin oil layer to your face. It takes a few minutes to absorb or may have a stripes!
If you already have oily skin, this helps to balance the object.
You can also use this as a makeup routine setting or finishing powder. I keep mining in a glass jar or powder container with different purposes and apply it using a brush. On most days, this fast brush is all I need!

Memo for Unmo
There was a debate about the mica powder and if it was natural or safe, there were some debate. Unmo is a naturally mineral in a family like quartz. It can also be made in the laboratory.
There was also a discussion about the ethics of sourcing. Unmoes are often mined under dangerous conditions by child workers. Unmoe I use avoid this problem and avoid the sources of where children’s labor is not used at any point in the process. Rather, if you do not want to use it, there will still be no good foundation powder.
Simple version
If you want, you can only use the arrowhead powder (or kaoline clay), cocoa powder and (optional) cinnamon powder. This will create a great and completely natural foundation. The only disadvantage is that it is not as long as a powder with zinc oxide and mica. I feel safe by using zinc oxide on my skin (nano and not coated). Otherwise, try the arrow root version.
