EDITION Resort Opens in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Project: Travel Weekly

Marriott International’s Edition brand opened the resort ‘Red Sea Edition’ on Shura Island, Saudi Arabia.

Shura Island, connected to Saudi Arabia’s western coastline by a two-mile-long bridge, is the main hub island for developer Red Sea Global’s Red Sea Project large-scale development.

The 240-room EDITION is located on a 800-metre private beach and offers views of Shura Links, the island’s 18-hole golf course.

The resort features a variety of dining venues, an extensive spa and fitness facility, and 10,700 square feet of event space, including a ballroom that can accommodate up to 500 guests.

The Red Sea Edition will be joined by SLS and InterContinental resorts on Shura Island in the coming weeks, followed by Faena, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah, Miraval, Raffles and Rosewood. Eight more Shura Island resorts are scheduled to open under the brand.

The Red Sea project will ultimately have 50 hotels and more than 1,000 residences across 22 islands and six inland locations by 2030, according to Red Sea Global.

Red Sea Edition is the second edition hotel to open in Saudi Arabia, following Jeddah Edition last year.
