  1. Prepare the bread: Preheat oven to 350°F, then slice off the top of 1 loaf of French bread. Remove part of the bread to leave enough room for the filling. Leave enough bread on the sides and bottom so it is sturdy enough. Save the top of the bread and any extra bread slices for dipping later.
