Apple CarPlay users will soon be able to chat with their favorite AI chatbot.
According to Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources, Apple is reportedly working on ways to support AI chatbot apps within CarPlay.
Apple CarPlay is an app that runs on your iPhone and communicates wirelessly with your car’s infotainment system. Project some apps from your phone onto the car’s infotainment display. Drivers can interact with these apps, including Apple Music, Messaging, and Navigation, through the voice assistant Siri.
Apple’s next-generation CarPlay Ultra goes one step further by including a central touchscreen display and a digital dashboard positioned directly in front of the driver, giving users the ability to control specific vehicle settings.
This latest move would theoretically equip cars with Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and risks putting its own Siri assistant in the backseat.
