What to Serve with Holiday Spiral Ham:
Spiral Ham with Honey Orange Glaze
This Spiral Ham with Honey Orange Glaze is tender, juicy and perfectly caramelized. Made with fresh oranges, honey, and warm spices, it’s perfect for a holiday meal!
Serving Size: 10
For ham:
- 8-10 pound Fully cooked spiral cut ham
- 1 large in size orange Cut into thin rounds
- 1/2 cup water For roasting pan
For the Honey Orange Glaze:
Preheat the oven 325°F. Place ham cut side down in roasting pan. Gently separate the spiral slices and tuck thin orange slices between the layers of the whole ham. It does not need to be placed on every slice. Placing them 1 to 2 inches apart works great. Pour ½ cup water into the bottom of the pan and cover tightly with foil.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes per pound until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (spiral hams are fully cooked and can simply be reheated).
While the ham is baking, bring the honey, orange juice, zest, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, butter, cinnamon, cloves, and salt to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Boil for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- For the last 30 minutes of baking:Remove foil. Carefully spread the glaze all over the ham, allowing it to seep between the slices and onto the orange slices. Return to oven, uncovered.Apply every 10 minutes until shiny and caramelized.
Let rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. You can leave the grilled orange slices in for presentation or remove them before serving. Both options are beautiful.
- Please slice the orange very thin So it becomes completely soft during baking.
- Remove seeds to avoid bitter taste.
- For a deeper citrus flavor, add a second orange.
- If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
