I continued back to the same section of Portici Beach, just beyond the loungers where the sand stayed cool under the trees. The water remains a deep, glassy blue, flowing steadily and evenly without getting in the way underfoot. Once inside, it stays consistent and the floor is smooth throughout.
The cliffs rise just behind the coastline, are deep green, and the resort is nestled within them. The canvas canopy appears in pieces through the trees, never fully revealing its properties all at once. As water comes in, as the wind passes through the leaves, the sound remains constant and unbroken.
I stayed on this beach longer than I expected. It’s not that I don’t have anything else to do, it’s that everything else keeps leading me here. They leave for a while and then come back without a second thought.
Everything about this place keeps drawing you to this sandy beach. It’s home to what I think is the newest boutique hotel in the Caribbean.
Canopy Design Anywhere
Accommodations follow one idea that applies to all categories: open interiors, expansive views and private terraces shaded by unfolding canvas canopies. Light becomes soft rather than blocked, and air continues to move through space.
Island view rooms overlook the hills and fill the frame with green. Ocean View and Panoramic Ocean View rooms are located along the cliffs, offering panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and, depending on elevation, a full view of the curves of Portici Beach below. The layout remains consistent – king-size bed, sitting area, rainfall shower – with differences defined by perspective rather than size or excess.
Beachfront bungalows open directly onto the sand with the same open layout that extends outward to private patios. The door opens and you are just steps from the water. At the highest point, the two-bedroom panoramic ocean view suite features a central living area with a wet bar and multiple patios, each facing the ocean.
There are no dramatic changes between categories. For most operations, the design remains controlled and consistent based on settings.
where time goes
The day settles into a pattern without any effort.
I moved between the beach, rooftop gym, and wellness room without planning. The rooftop gym is open to the coastline and is equipped with equipment overlooking the water. No walls, no screens. There is just open air and a clear line towards the sea. The length of stay varies. After completing one set, you look up and stay for another set.
The wellness room provides a quieter counterpoint. Treatment takes place in a space connected to the outside. You can still hear the wind and feel the air, but everything slows down. It never feels contained or overly staged.
But most of the time, it’s back to the beach. Returning to the same sand, the same path into the water, the same silence.
Azzurro, Light on the Sand
dining center sky blueThis beachfront restaurant is direct, unfussy and anchored in its surroundings, blending in with everything else on the property.
The tables face the water and are placed right on the sand. The sounds of the sea are transmitted straight through the space. The menu is Italian with a Caribbean twist. There are handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas coming out of stone ovens, and seafood with an emphasis on ingredients rather than heavy preparation.
I continued to realize how easy it is to stay longer than planned. Lunch time will be extended. Dinner took place without changing the mood of the day. There is no separation between the restaurant and the beach. You can still be in it and still hear the same sound of water.
Some nights, subtle changes occur. Weekly “Slice & Brew” evenings feature a more relaxed, sociable vibe and a steady stream of wood-fired pizzas. It never gets noisy or crowded, just different speeds.
There are also sometimes pre-set dining experiences, such as seasonal beachside lunches created for sharing, served in the same open environment facing the ocean.
More Dining at Grand Anse
Guests at Silversands Beach House have full access to the restaurant and amenities. Silver Sands Resort Grenada A short drive to Grand Anse adds a different dimension when you want more variety. The first Silversands hotel in Grenada when it opened in 2018, this hotel is just as good, but different. I actually recommend combining your stay in Grenada with a few days at each accommodation.
In Grand Anse Asian It’s a more sophisticated dinner-oriented setting with an emphasis on Asian-inspired cuisine. Grenadian Grill The use of seafood and local dishes associated with the island adds a local flavor to the beachside setting. beach lounge while maintaining a casual and open atmosphere. pure This is world-class rhumba.
You can easily extend your stay. You can spend most of your time at the Beach House and then return for dinner without disrupting your overall experience.
A smaller footprint that you can actually feel
There are 28 accommodation options here. You feel the numbers immediately.
The beach is never full of people. The gym is quiet. Dinner does not transmit noise from table to table. Movement throughout the building is minimized and controlled.
I noticed it in the smallest moments. You walk to the sand, find the same open space, return to the gym, meet only one or two people, and sit down to dinner without your voice overlapping across the room.
Creates consistency that lasts from start to finish.
Design that stays quiet
The canopy structure visually defines the property but is by no means dominant. They provide shade, filter light and keep everything open.
The rain showers, open layout and location of each accommodation along the cliffs all follow the same approach. That is, we keep the connection to the outside intact and remove the unnecessary.
It doesn’t recognize the design as a feature. You can see how easy everything feels.
How to get to Grenada
Grenada is one of the most accessible islands in the southern Caribbean, with direct flights from several major U.S. cities, including Miami, New York and Charlotte, as well as connections through other Caribbean hubs.
Flights arrive at Maurice Bishop International Airport, just outside St. George’s. From here, Silversands Beach House is a short drive along the coast, providing quick access to Portici Beach without a long transfer.
The island itself is kept compact, making it easy to move between Beach House and Grand Anse when you want to explore both properties.
What stays with you
Portici Beach ties the whole experience together.
The clarity of the water, the uninterrupted white sand, and the quiet that remains consistent throughout. Everything else – canopy room, rooftop gym, Azzurro, wellness area – is secondary.
Without planning, I kept returning to the same sandy patch.
A smaller, more focused resort set on one of Grenada’s most prominent beaches, everything is set up to keep your attention exactly where it belongs.
Cool but friendly, unpretentious and hip. It’s perfect.
Cost of accommodation at Silversands Beach House
According to what I found on Google Flights, you can find a room at Silversands Beach House in April for around $1,400. Flights from Miami to Grenada run about $705 roundtrip on American Airlines.
