Seattle Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba becomes highest paid wide receiver in NFL history with $168.6 million contract extension | NFL News

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.

The 2025 Offensive Player of the Year is guaranteed $120 million if he helps the Seahawks advance to the Super Bowl and earns his second straight Pro Bowl appearance.

Last season, he led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards, tossing 10 touchdowns and averaging 15.1 yards per catch on 119 grabs.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba found space to score for the Seattle Seahawks as they regained the lead against the Los Angeles Rams.

The 24-year-old, averaging $42.15 million per year, is comfortably ahead of the next highest paid wide receiver in history, the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase (averaging $40.25 million per year).

However, both are ahead of Justin Jefferson, who averages $35 million per year, and CeeDee Lamb, who averages $34 million per year.

Smith-Njigba’s record extension redefines the top of the receiver market, which could have implications for division rival Los Angeles as star wideout Puka Nacua enters the final season of his contract.

Seattle may now extend 2023 first-round pick and standout cornerback Devon Witherspoon.
