The United States and Mexico are strengthening their food safety agreement as agricultural and food trade between the two countries continues to expand.
Mexican and U.S. regulators recently reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of fresh and minimally processed foods. This comes as trade flows and supply chain interdependence deepen.
Over the past five years, food exchanges between the two countries have grown from just over $50 billion to more than $73 billion. Mexico’s major exports to the United States include avocados, tomatoes, strawberries, peppers, other fresh fruits and vegetables, and beef.
