The crew of NASA’s Artemis II mission described seeing the far side of the moon for the first time.
NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen are on day three of their Orion spacecraft mission that will circle the far side of the moon and return to Earth.
“I feel like something about you isn’t the moon I’m used to seeing,” Koch said.
The crew shared photos from the moon’s Orientale Basin, which NASA said was “the first time the entire basin has been seen with human eyes.”
As of 23:00 (BST) on Saturday, NASA’s online dashboard showed the Artemis II spacecraft was more than 180,000 miles (289,681 km) from Earth.
