A few weeks ago, Loanne and I took my mom for a belated birthday present.
The criteria are as follows: Sun, seclusion, private pool with stunning views, not far from the plane, a happy place to relax. It’s not too specific… under! Our options have been narrowed down to one place that fits the bill perfectly!
Daios Cove
Nestled in a private, secluded bay on the northeastern island of Crete (the largest of the Greek islands), Daios Cove is truly spectacular.
Below we’ve explained why this is an ideal location for anyone looking for a quiet, secluded and beautiful getaway. Oh and my mom loved it and so did we!
It’s a 50-minute drive from the airport and you don’t have to worry about transportation as we offer complimentary transfers to and from the hotel. Get a glimpse of the 5-star luxury you will soon experience in a Mercedes! Upon arrival we were treated to a delicious welcome drink and a tour of the resort and villas. The views of the bay from the hotel are breathtaking and the crystal clear water will make you think you have landed in the Indian Ocean. The interior creates a sophisticated and modern atmosphere with luxurious fabrics, sophisticated colors, and Italian flair.
My favorite part of Daios Cove was our deluxe room, which opened onto a private veranda with a sofa, table and chairs. Private swimming pool with unrivaled views of Vathi Bay. This is an ideal place for those who want to have their own privacy when sunbathing, relaxing or swimming. Even with room on both sides, it still feels good. Isolation and tranquility as if nestled on a hill. This is the perfect place to spend some quiet time, meditate or stargaze in the evening. (One night, while lying by the pool, I saw three shooting stars!)
We spent most of the morning on the veranda soaking up the sunshine, and around noon, when the sun slowly dipped off the terrace, we headed to our private beach, a 10-15 minute walk away. For the more subdued, there is a glass elevator at reception that takes you almost down to the beach.
For those who aren’t too keen on privacy and don’t mind being around people, the beach is small, intimate and usually quite crowded at midday. But the sea is really fantastic Clear as crystal and smooth as the seaFor restless sunbathers, there are also plenty of water sports to indulge in!
I recommend going to a beach bar and trying a few things. Mouthwatering cocktail creationsMy mom was so impressed that she had to add cocktails to the dinner party menu! tip: Try the Green Colada Cocktail. This cocktail is a beautiful combination of gin, avocado cream, coconut, and sage spice!
If the beach isn’t your thing, there’s a gorgeous heated infinity pool overlooking a private bay. The swimming pool is filled with skin-friendly sea water and has a dedicated area for children and toddlers.
We had dinner and breakfast here every day. Pangea Restaurant. NRedesigned in 2018, the restaurant offers an American breakfast buffet and dinner buffet, with a variety of dishes to please everyone, even the most picky gourmets. In the restaurant It features an outdoor kitchen and 2 spacious outdoor areas with fantastic views of the sea. For those who want to try other restaurants, there are Taverna and Ocean restaurants, which require advance reservations. If you want to try delicious local specialties such as fresh fish and a variety of Greek and international wines, this is the place for you!
The staff are very friendly and helpful, adding to the overall exquisite and luxurious atmosphere. As soon as I called the staff, he immediately came to my hotel room and helped me open two bottles of wine. (Yes, all three of us struggled to remove the corkscrew!)
There is a place for those who like a bit of relaxation and downtime. Goco Spa We offer a wide range of results-driven spa treatments combined with world-class heat and water facilities. Unfortunately we only stayed there for 3 days so we didn’t have time to come here.
At the end of my vacation, I felt more than anything a sense of calm and inner peace. This feeling could only be achieved through the surroundings and magical tranquility of Daios Cove. We said goodbye to the lovely staff and were escorted by our driver back to the airport in the Mercedes. 5* service from start to finish The unrivaled experience and natural beauty of this place combined has me thinking about booking a return visit next summer!
