The two-time world champion has not competed on the European Tour circuit since February’s Poland Darts Open, but this weekend he will become one of six former European Darts Grand Prix winners.

Friday’s opening round will feature 16 matches over two sessions, with German star Springer taking on fellow compatriot Massino, who will be making his big stage debut on home soil.

Former champions Rob Cross, Peter Wright and Kim Huybrechts will also feature on day one in Sindelfingen, with 2019 winner Ian White replacing Ryan Joyce on the field.

Scottish star Cameron Menzies and five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld go head-to-head in another high-profile clash.

Australia no. 1 Damon Heta battles Latvian best player Madars Razma for a place in the second round while former Masters champion Joe Cullen faces Maik Kuivenhoven, with the winner facing top seed Gian van Veen.
