‘I don’t think Tehran has lost this war’

US President Donald Trump has said that talks between the US and Iran to end the war could resume as early as this weekend, and that the US and Iran are very close to reaching a deal.

Lyse Doucet, the BBC’s chief international correspondent, reported that while the Iranians are keen to end hostilities with the United States, their leaders do not believe they have lost the war and are unwilling to negotiate on Washington’s terms.

Lyse Doucet reports from Tehran on the condition that none of her material be used by the BBC’s Persian service. These restrictions apply to all international media organizations operating in Iran.
