Manchester City pulled back a point in the 97th minute to draw 3-3 with Everton in a dramatic match that left Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
Jeremy Doku opened and finished the scoring but what happened in between was remarkable as Everton went three goals behind to Erling Haaland and Pep Guardiola’s side saw their first-half lead disappear as Doku denied David Moyes the winner.
City looked to be cruising late in the first half when Doku curled the ball into the top corner, but Marc Guehi’s poor backpass was saved by substitute Thierno Barry and moments later Jake O’Brien headed Everton to spark wild scenes.
With the Hill Dickinson Stadium as shaken as Pep Guardiola’s side, Merlin Rolls brought on Barry in an incredible moment while City were under pressure. Haaland pulled one back but it looked to be in vain until Doku intervened on the final kick.
Arsenal lead the table by five points and City have just one game remaining. Three wins are now enough for the Gunners to win their first title in 22 years. City showed their vulnerability but also their fight. The title may yet be determined.

Guardiola: It’s better than losing!
man city manager Pep Guardiola speaking sky sports:
“We had a really good performance. The first half was really good. It was very difficult physically.
“We went a step further in the second half. We lacked control and conceded a goal. Then they came back and played a proper English game, very aggressive in the duels. But overall we played a really good game.
“It’s not easy because they have 10 players and they play so well defensively, switching from Dewsbury-Hall to Beto. Everton away is always difficult and I give them credit for their composure and aggression.”
“We’ll take the point and keep going until the end. It’s better than losing. We played to win. It just shows what a team is. We tried and we did it. It’s not in our hands. It was in our hands before. Not anymore.
“We have to do it in four games in the Premier League. The game against Brentford will be quite similar. We will see what happens.”
Henry: It’s in Arsenal’s hands
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry monday night football:
“Now it’s back in Arsenal’s hands. It’s no longer in Manchester City’s hands.”
“I said at the beginning of the show that I could see City losing points against Everton and that I was worried about the West Ham game, so I’m going to stay in my line and not celebrate too early because nothing’s going to happen, but I could see it happening.
“I felt a bit tense because City collapsed. They made a few mistakes and brought Everton back into the game. The game went to waste.
“Arsenal can see that Manchester City have dropped two points but they shouldn’t think, ‘Maybe now…’. That’s not possible. Win the game. Don’t look at City. It’s in your hands.”
Another tardiness from Everton
It has been too much for Everton, who have now dropped a point in added time for three successive Premier League games, leaving Moyes winless in 16 attempts against Guardiola. These points can be very costly in European competition.
There was so much to admire in Everton’s determination as they chased down City on the counter-attack in the second half, and they could have done more had Iliman N’Diaye not been so uncharacteristically wasteful. Donnarumma actually played well for the visitors.
However, they are now four points down after three games, and those points will put Everton in contention for sixth place in the Premier League. That may still be enough for Champions League football. It’s painful for the Toffees to drop to 10th place now.
