Project Freedom was intended to restore the region’s oil flows and aid the global economy’s eventual return to normal by guiding stranded ships out of the Gulf through largely closed waterways. But it will be difficult for President Trump to argue that his goal has been achieved if global shipping companies and the insurance companies that work with them are hampered by Iranian interference during the ‘pause’ period.
