Southampton were excluded from the Championship play-offs due to the ‘Spygate’ scandal.

Middlesbrough are back in action and will face Hull City in the play-off final on Saturday 23 May.

Southampton, who have the right to appeal the decision, will be deducted four points from next season’s Championship.

May 9: Boro manager Kim Helberg accused Southampton of cheating after the first leg at the Riverside Stadium ended in a 0-0 draw.

May 12th: Southampton have been accused of breaching EFL rules in connection with allegations of spying. Southampton requests additional time to conduct an internal review.

The second leg of the playoff semi-finals will be played at St. Mary’s. Shea Charles’ extra-time win saw Southampton win 2-1 and advance to the Championship play-off final.

May 13th: A photo believed to have been taken of a Southampton analyst near Middlesbrough’s training ground has been released.

May 14th: An independent hearing to decide Southampton’s fate will be held on or before Tuesday 19 May, it has been announced. “The match schedule may be subject to change depending on the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings,” the EFL said in a statement.
