Trump to talk with Taiwanese president about arms deal
President Trump said he would speak with Taiwan’s president about possible arms sales to the self-governing democracy. Direct talks would anger China, which claims Taiwan as its own territory and opposes contact between Taiwan and foreign leaders.
“Well, I’ll talk to him. I’ll talk to everyone. We’re very aware of the situation. We had a great meeting with (China’s) President Xi Jinping. It was great. In fact, it was great. A lot of people were there. We’re going to try to resolve the Taiwan issue.”
