At least 24 killed in train explosion in Balochistan, Pakistan | dispute news

At least 24 people have been killed in an explosion targeting a train carrying soldiers in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, a senior official said.

Soldiers were killed in the attack that wounded more than 50 people in the provincial capital Quetta on Sunday.

The official said the train was passing through Shaman Pathak signal in Quetta when “an explosive-laden vehicle collided with one of the carriages, causing a loud explosion.”

The force of the explosion caused two of the train’s carriages to overturn and catch fire, sending thick black smoke into the sky.

The attack occurred in an area where security forces normally have a presence, causing serious damage to several nearby buildings and smashing into pieces more than a dozen cars parked along the road.

The Balochistan Liberation Army separatist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
