The FDA issued a warning after the cookie company refused to recall its products.

The FDA is warning retailers not to serve or sell certain Imperial brand cookies and candies made by Imperial Nougat Co. to consumers with milk, wheat or tree nut allergies because the milk, wheat or tree nut ingredients are not listed on the label.

People who are allergic or sensitive to ingredients not listed may be at risk of a serious and life-threatening reaction if they consume this product.

On April 30, 2026, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began investigating Imperial Nougat Co., located in Santa Fe Springs, California, and identified the following products as containing milk, wheat, and tree nuts (pistachios) but not declaring them on the label: Related products include:

On May 5, 2026, the FDA advised Imperial Nougat Co. to recall the product. Imperial Nougat Co. notified one of its customers on May 12, 2026, to remove the product from store shelves, but the company did not notify other customers who received the product. Additionally, Imperial Nougat Co. did not issue a press release warning the public. Therefore, the FDA is issuing this warning to ensure that customers are aware of this safety information.
