USDA issues warning about chicken breast products containing undeclared allergens

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for raw, boneless chicken breast products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.

Product contains egg, a known allergen not listed on the product label. A recall has not been requested because the product is no longer available for purchase.

The Raw Honey Dijon Boneless Chicken Breast product was produced on June 2nd and has an expiration date of June 28th. Consumers can use the following label information to determine if any product has been recalled.

  • 21 ounce vacuum packed package of “PRIVATE SELECTION Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Rib Chicken Breast” with “BEST IF USED BY: 06/28/2026” and lot code “15326A” printed on the package.

The facility number “P-45288B” is printed on the product packaging. These items were shipped to Kroger and Fred Meyer retail stores in Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon and Washington.

The problem was discovered by the retailer after store associates noticed that while the product had the correct label on the front, the product had an incorrect label on the back containing the ingredients list. The retailer reported this issue to its production facility, which notified FSIS.

There are no confirmed reports of adverse effects from consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact their health care provider.

FSIS is concerned that some of the products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased the product in question are advised not to consume the product. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
