Dimension Capital’s $800 million third fund shows the intersection of science and computing is booming.

While many new VC firms still struggle to raise new capital, Dimension Capital, founded in late 2022, has been raising increasing amounts of money in rapid succession. The New York company, which invests at the intersection of science and computing, announced an $800 million fund on Tuesday. That’s 60% more than the $500 million second vehicle announced just 18 months ago.

When Zavian Dar and Adam Goulburn, formerly partners at Lux Capital, teamed up with Obvious Ventures alum Nan Li to found the company four years ago, they were convinced that founders would increasingly want to build deeptech companies that straddle the boundaries between biotech and software. Now the three partners admit they are impressed by how quickly their paper progressed.

In 2024, they co-led a $30 million seed investment in Chai Discovery. The startup, which is developing an open source AI-based model for drug discovery, announced last week that it had raised $400 million at a valuation of $3.8 billion. The company also backed anti-aging startup New Limit in a Series A round in January 2025. Earlier this month, New Limit, co-founded by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, completed its Series C at a $3.1 billion valuation.

The company’s other notable investments include inference companies Modal Labs and Anthropic. Dimension acquired shares in the AI giant after Anthropic acquired its portfolio company, drug discovery platform Coefficient Bio, for $400 million this spring.
