The Netherlands has published figures for the number of people and cases of disease caused by various pathogens in 2025.

There were 4,279 patients in 1,142 outbreaks, and 12 large-scale outbreaks involved at least 25 people. The pathogen was identified in 31 cases. According to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), 10 cases were caused by Salmonella, 7 by Norovirus and 4 by Campylobacter.

It is estimated that in 2025, approximately 2 million people in the Netherlands will be infected with food-borne pathogens.
